Champions of the Taylor's Bronze Super Bowls
Bronze Super Challenge: Pacific Paradise travelled to Tweed Heads last week-end as the last remaining men’s team to represent the Sunshine Coast. I am pleased to announce that the team were successful in their efforts to win this year’s Taylors Super Bowl Series. PP won all 3 games by 3-2 in some hard fought matches, none more so than the 1 point by Darren Maddrell in the singles which took the team through to the semi finals. All our bowlers played major parts at some point during these games which enabled us to achieve our goal.
Our first opponents were Caboolture Lakes (highly fancied to win) followed by Paradise Point and finally Robina who excelled to beat Condon (most fancied to win) and reach the finals. All 3 games were highly competitive as the results showed, but with some individual magic and great team work the trophy is on the Coast where it belongs.
Our 16 man squad were: Darren Maddrell, Billy Imburger, Michael Craigie, Ian Cretney, David LLewellyn, Steve Mckay, Mike Kent, Michael Elliot, Andrew Cremer, Beven Gyde, Max Kitto, Michael Ansell, John Bailey, Barry Ireton, Ted Pierce & Les Apps.
Special thanks go to David Llewellyn for all his efforts as manager, selector and coach, a man with a big heart and bigger shoulders.
It would be remiss of me not to mention Billy Imburger& Michael Craigie, one of our pairs team who lost only 1 game (after an extra end) all season, great bowling guys. Others worthy of mention are Max Kitto as captain of the 4’s, Darren Maddrell our singles champ lost only 1 game. Les (magic) Apps who has announced his retirement from competition bowls and finally Michael Ansell voted most improved player of the series
Huge thanks go to the forgotten members of our squad our wives, girlfriends and children who have supported us all through this long campaign. Don’t look now but Pennant’s season is just around the corner.
Extra thanks go to our supporters who ventured out to watch our games; your presence gave a big boost to our morale and helped us across the line. Lastly we would like to thank all the teams from the Sunny Coast who played hard, your games helped toughen us up for the finals.
Thanks to our major sponsor Prestige Tiling and our 2 minor sponsor’s North Shore Realty & Direct Chemist Outlet (Pacific Paradise)
This year sees the Club reaches a milestone in its history, 50 years and still growing. Stay tuned to our web site www.ppbc for some exciting events and entertainment planned to mark this achievement. Come on over and join a winning club, and help make it an even better year.
These last few years the club which is probably one of the least fashionable has been galvanised to improve our bowls and standing on the Sunshine Coast, with improved coaching, professional out-look and presentation for all our teams. It would be fair to say that the hard work is reaping some rewards. We look forward to what could become a pivotal year.
Current Start Times.
